This term we have been making dioramas, these are a type of scene that is usually made in a shoe box. When making dioramas you can use lots of things that you have around the home and you can make your own. Our dioramas have plastic Sea creatures, also paper Sea creatures, pipe cleaner seaweed etc. How we made our dioramas first everyone painted their shoe box, then we put in P.V.A glue to hold down the sand. After that we put together all the Sea creatures and scene setters using string, sellotape and glue.
We have a giant fishing net that we are using to hang up pictures of fish that we have drawn, some are big and some are small. We have now added our dioramas to complete our in class aquatic corner.
In Poutama we have been making hand towels, cooking experiments, making picture frames and I.C.T all about the Ocean.
We have done projects on all different sea creatures like Limpets, Sea Kinas, Hermit Crabs, Chitons(kite-ons), Sea Stars, Seaweed and Anemones.
We have put up pictures of Sea creatures on our wall that are all different, our classroom is looking wicked

Our First Post
Hello and Welcome to our first post. We are a Year 5 and 6 mixed class in New Zealand at The Gardens School. At School we do interesting subjects like Maths, Jump Jam, P.E and lots more.
We love to learn new things and have fun learning. When we first get to school we get changed into our P.E gear and start doing jump jam with awesome music like Hampton the Hamster, Bob the Builder and Heyy Baby. We also do relays and runs around the field.
After jump jam we go to our maths classes, and we learn about multiplication, division, addition and subtraction. That's basically all we do for maths. After maths we have fuel which is our morning tea break when that is over at approximately 11.02(am). On Wednesday's we normally go to the Poutama center which is a hard materials, I.C.T (International Communication Technology) and cooking classes. Not forgetting the soft materials.
Our last block is usually our S.S.R time which actually means Silent Reading, We also do some topic work which is about The Ocean and us. Sometimes we like to finish off the day with a game.
We will also be going to our school camp at the end of the year although we will tell you about that later...
Keep checking for the latest updates on our blog.
